TUESDAY - ADVENTURE AND TRAVEL

I'm having a terrible time getting on the internet and posting here in the middle of the rainforest.  So, please be patient waiting on pictures.  Tuesday we got up at 6:00 am and started off by birding.  After a quick breakfast, we were on the road

We stopped at La Fortuna, where students went shopping to learn about Costa Rican money, to to plan a meal for 3 people based on minimum wage.  Arenal volcano in the background.

This is a very uncommon experience - we can see the top.  I never even saw the bottom on my previous trips and was surprised to look down the street and see a volcano.  You can see steam coming from the top!

I got a lot of pictures of our tour of a chocolate plantation, but today you'll just get one.   These are the cocoa pods, about as big as one of those small footballs...and heavy.  The chocolate was outstanding!

I really admire our bus driver Carlos.  The roads were TIGHT and scary.

and phenomenally steep, curvey, and with cliff edges.  This picture doesn't even come close to showing how steep the road was, with Carlos driving down in first gear riding the brakes on the tight pothole filled gravel road.  We're having a dry spell, and Carlos said this was the first time he ever drove on the road that it wasn't raining.

We stopped by a river just to spash our heads and cool off.  Very nice.

And ended up the day with 2 hours discussing the foods students found, learning about their menus, and general discussion about the Costa Rican culture...ending at 9:00 pm - 15 hours of travel and learning!

I hope to figure out how to post more pictures of the students that I have, but this will be about the 5th time I've tried to get even this tiny post posted.  Crossing fingers to see if this time it posts.  Anyhow, if you have a kid or loved one here, we're all doing great!

PURA VIDA!
